How to Make a Toddler Platform Bed
Toddler platform bed – A platform bed is a bed that is on point of a larger frame. If you want to build a platform toddler bed, you can do this easily with a few pieces of furniture-grade hardwood, but you need to keep safety in mind. You cannot get the platform bed high enough that a child would struggle to get in or to get hurt when he fell to matter.
To make a toddler platform bed, Measure the length and width of the mattress for your toddler bed with a tape measure. This gives you the size of your platform bed frame. Cut two pieces of 1-inch-thick-by-24-inch wide hardwood planks to the length required with a miter saw or table saw. These plates are the buffets of the platform bed. Drill four evenly spaced 1/4-inch holes across the width of each sideboard about 1/2 inches down each end of the boards. Then place the sideboards on their 1-inch sides and place the headboard and foot board on their 1-inch sides. Drive 1/4 inch diameter, 2 cm long wood screws through the holes in the side walls and in the headboard and foot board.
Toddler platform bed, Cut 1/2 inch thick plywood furniture and place the plywood on top of the bed frame. Drill evenly 1/4 inch holes in each corner and approximately every 12 cm on the sides. Put the holes 1/2-inch inwardly of the edges of the plywood. Drive 1/4 inch diameter by 2 centimeters long wood screws though the holes in the plywood and in the framing. Stain or paint the framing to dry your preferred color and wait for the paint or stain before continuing. Place the toddler mattress on plywood top.
